3-Day, 2-Night Samburu Game Reserve Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu

Morning:

6:00 AM:               Depart Nairobi Land cruiser or tour van. (Estimated drive time: 5-6 hours, 310 km via Nanyuki).

9:30 AM:               Stopover in Nanyuki for a break including a visit to the Equator crossing point for photos and brief explanations by local guides.

Midday:

12:30 PM:             Arrival Samburu Game Reserve and check in at lodge Enjoy a welcome drink and freshen up.

Afternoon:

1:30 PM:               Lunch at the lodge. After lunch you get to relax after the long drive.

4:00 PM:               Embark on your first game drive. Look out for Samburu’s “Special Five” — the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk, and Beisa oryx.

Sunset photography is highly recommended.

Evening:

6:30 PM:               Return to the lodge for dinner and a relaxing evening under the starry African skies.

 

Day 2: Full Day in Samburu Game Reserve

Morning:

6:00 AM:               Early morning game drive in search of  predators such as lions, cheetahs, and leopards in action.

8:30 AM:                 Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast.

Midday:

Spend the late morning relaxing by the pool or enjoying panoramic views of the reserve including a visit to a Samburu cultural village to learn about the traditions of the Samburu people.

12:30 PM:             Lunch at the lodge.

Afternoon:

4:00 PM:               Another game drive. Explore the Ewaso Nyiro River and spot crocodiles, elephants, and various bird species.

Capture the magical sunset over the rolling landscapes.

 

Evening:

6:30 PM:               Dinner at the lodge.

End the day with storytelling or entertainment, depending on the lodge’s offerings.

 

Day 3: Samburu to Nairobi

Morning:

8:30 AM:               Begin the morning with breakfast at the lodge.

10:00 AM:             Check out and begin journey back to Nairobi.

Midday:

12:30 PM:             Stopover for lunch at the Trout Tree Restaurant

4:00 PM:               Arrive in Nairobi and end of safari.

• Bring light clothing for daytime, warm layers for mornings and evenings, sunscreen, a hat, binoculars, and a camera.
